Losing a grandparent

If a grandparent has died by taking their own life this can be devastating. You may have felt very close to them and regret that you didn’t realise how bad they were feeling, or think that maybe there was something you could have done to help. You may feel you have to hide your own grief to avoid upsetting the rest of the family. It is important, however, that your own needs are recognised. Other members of the family or friends can be a source of support for you. You shouldn’t feel bad about going out with friends and being more independent, because learning how to go on with your life is part of the healing process.
