Aims and target audience

The Suicide awareness and prevention course is aimed at individuals and organisations who would like to learn how to notice the signs of someone who is suicidal and would like to know how to help.

Learning outcomes

  • To gain an understanding of the prevalence and the impact of suicide in the UK.
  • To gain an understanding of the possible indicators that may be associated with someone who is having thoughts of suicide.
  • To gain an understanding of the risk factors associated with suicide.
  • To gain an understanding of how to respond appropriately to someone who is having thoughts of suicide.
  • To gain an understanding of how your attitude can impact your response to someone who is having thoughts of suicide.

This course is delivered using real case studies and interactive activities.

Knowledge and skills required of the trainers

All instructors are licenced through MHFA Wales and have completed the Suicide Awareness and Prevention Instructor Training.

Assessment, CPD credits, certification

This course is available as an accreditation by Agored Cymru in partnership with Adult Learning Wales.
