Learning outcomes
There is an opportunity for the group the connect and understand their helping experiences. We’ll deepen our self awareness of our beliefs and attitudes towards suicide, considering how these may impact an intervention.
We introduce the 6 steps of ASIST’s PAL (Pathway for Assisting Life) model, which focus’s on how we meet the needs of the person with thoughts of suicide.
We spend Day 2 testing out ASIST’s PAL intervention model in lots of different situations, ensuring you feel ready, willing and able to apply your new skills to a range of situations. In this section we cover a lot of the ‘what ifs’ that people often worry about.
Our ‘last look in the mirror’ before heading out into our communities as ASIST trained Care Givers. We’ll cover considerations for providing ASIST support in professional and person contexts as well as situations where we my not be the right person to provide support.
