Listening Skills

Aims and target audience

Listening Skills is is aimed at anyone who has regular contact or interactions with customers, service users or colleagues; and will help them to develop their active listening skills and to conduct supportive conversations with confidence and sensitivity.

 

Learning outcomes

This course will help participants to:

  • Explore what active listening looks like in practice.
  • Develop their range of open questions to explore facts and feelings.
  • React with empathy through their words and tone of voice.
  • Ask effective clarifying questions to ensure shared understanding.
  • End conversations effectively and sensitively.

Interactive fully facilitated workshop with skills practice sessions.

Knowledge and skills required of the trainers

Our trainers have extensive experience across all sectors and delivery of Samaritans Training and Engagement Programmes portfolio.

The course is led by an expert Samaritans facilitator and uses a variety of tools to encourage interaction and group learning.

Involvement of people with lived experience

We utilise Samaritans research within our training programmes.

Assessment, CPD credits, certification

Our training is not CPD accredited.
