Aims and target audience

Understanding and Responding to Anger will equip participants to understand and manage anger more effectively and confidently and respond calmly and assertively to rude or aggressive behaviour.

This course is aimed at anyone who has contact with customers, clients or service users who may experience and express anger.

 

Learning outcomes

This course will help participants to:

  • Appreciate some of the common triggers of anger.
  • Know what happens physiologically when someone experiences anger.
  • Learn and practise some techniques to respond to anger sensitively and effectively.
  • Explore ways to manage rude or aggressive behaviour calmly and assertively

Interactive fully facilitated workshop with skills practice sessions.

Knowledge and skills required of the trainers

Our trainers have extensive experience across all sectors and delivery of Samaritans Training and Engagement Programmes portfolio.

The course is led by an expert Samaritans facilitator who uses a variety of tools to encourage interaction and group learning.

Involvement of people with lived experience

We utilise Samaritans research within our training programmes.
